What is a Jib Crane?

Fixed-Point Lifting for
Workstation & Bay Use

A jib crane lifts and moves loads from a fixed mounting point through a defined slewing arc. Unlike an overhead crane that spans an entire hall, a jib crane serves a specific work zone — a machining centre, a loading dock, a fabrication bay, or an assembly station — delivering fast, precise lifting exactly where it is needed without requiring a full crane runway.

Cesan jib cranes are available in three mounting types: ground-mounted pillar cranes for free-standing installation on a concrete foundation; wall-mounted and wall-bracket cranes that transfer loads into the building structure; and wall-travelling cranes that run along a horizontal wall rail for extended longitudinal reach combined with jib rotation.

Outreach up to 20 m, slewing arcs from 180° to 360°, capacities from 250 kg to 50 T, and a choice of electric chain hoist, electric wire rope hoist, or manual chain hoist — the range covers virtually every fixed-point lifting requirement in manufacturing, fabrication, and logistics.

1
No Crane Runway Required Mounts to a wall, column, or floor slab — no runway beams, no building structure modifications needed.
2
Precise Slewing Arc Coverage From 180° wall-bracket models to full 360° pillar cranes with electric slewing gear and infinite rotation.
3
Indoor & Outdoor Capable All models available for indoor and outdoor use. Articulating jib option for working around obstacles.
4
Cost-Effective Per Workstation One jib crane per station is often more efficient and less expensive than extending a full overhead crane system.

Extended Longitudinal Reach

Travels along a horizontal rail fixed to the wall, combining longitudinal movement along the wall with jib rotation — covering a large rectangular work zone from a single compact system. No floor columns, no ceiling structure modifications.

Hoist Options

Electric Chain Hoist

Standard hoist for jib crane capacities up to 5 T. Compact, lightweight, and reliable — two-speed or VFD stepless control. Pendant or radio remote operation. Chain bucket lubrication for long life. DIN 15018 H2/B2 or H2/B3 depending on model series.

250 kg — 5,000 kg

Electric Wire Rope Hoist

Used on heavy-duty jib cranes from 3.2 T up to 12.5 T+ (Vezir II, Sultan II). Low-build profile design for optimised hook height. Powered trolley, 2-speed slewing, slip-ring electrical system for full 360° continuous rotation models. Pendant or remote control.

3,200 kg — 12,500 kg+

Manual Chain Hoist

Hand-operated chain hoist for low-frequency, lighter-duty lifting tasks where electrical installation is impractical. Suitable for maintenance areas, occasional lifting, and facilities without power to the crane location. Available on selected lighter models.

Up to 1,000 kg
01

Slewing from 180° to Full 360° — Including Infinite Rotation

Wall-bracket models provide 180° of slewing coverage parallel to the wall. Ground-mounted models with manual rotation reach 270° or 300°. Vezir I, Sultan I, and Sultan II add electric slewing gear with full 360° rotation and — on Sultan models — a ring slip system for infinite continuous rotation with no cable wrap-up. The right slewing range is matched to each workstation's geometry so no degree of arc is wasted.

02

Optimised Hook Height — Low-Build Profile Jib Arms

The Müşir series introduces a low-build profile section jib arm that reduces the structural depth of the boom, allowing the hoist trolley to be positioned higher relative to the jib mounting point. This directly increases the usable lifting height beneath the arm. The removable jib end plate and adjustable clamping buffers further simplify hoist trolley installation during maintenance.

03

Designed for Outdoor & Indoor Use — Articulating Jib Option

All standard Cesan jib crane models are rated for both indoor and outdoor use, making them suitable for loading docks, yard operations, and open-bay facilities exposed to weather. The Nefer articulating jib adds a knuckle joint at the mid-span of the boom, allowing the outer section to fold around columns and into tight spaces that a rigid jib cannot reach.

Where Jib Cranes Work

Typical Applications

01

CNC & Machining Centres

Individual jib cranes serve each machine for loading and unloading heavy workpieces — faster and safer than sharing an overhead crane across the whole shop.

02

Assembly Lines

Fixed-point lifting at each assembly station for component presentation, sub-assembly handling, and finished product transfer to the next stage.

03

Loading Docks & Receiving

Wall-mounted or pillar jib cranes at loading bays for transferring goods between trucks and internal material handling systems.

04

Maintenance & Repair Bays

Quick access to a jib crane for engine removal, press tool changes, and equipment servicing — without tying up the main workshop crane.

05

Foundries & Casting

Ground-mounted heavy-duty models for ladle handling and mould manipulation in foundries where precise position control is essential.

06

Precast & Concrete

Heavy-capacity pillar cranes for handling reinforcement cages, precast moulds, and finished concrete elements at production stations.

07

Fabrication & Welding

Jib cranes position heavy weldments and structural steel sections precisely into welding jigs — reducing manual handling risk on the shop floor.

08

Outdoor Yard Operations

Ground-mounted and wall-mounted models rated for outdoor use serve material storage yards, vehicle loading areas, and open production facilities.
